Waste Factor Calculator
undefined
Overview
Adds the tool’s material-specific planning percentage to a raw quantity and shows both the extra amount and order quantity.
Assumptions
- Waste rates are default planning buffers, not supplier requirements.
- The base quantity is already in the unit selected for that material.
Worked example
With 100 pavers and a 10% rate, the order quantity is 100 × 1.10 = 110, so 10 extra are added.
Common mistakes
- Adding waste twice when another calculator already includes it.
- Using a percentage to compensate for an incorrect measurement.
Limitations
It cannot see pattern complexity, lot availability, or return policy.
Safety and local requirements
Store surplus materials safely; do not block walkways or overload vehicles with dense products.
