Material Delivery Calculator

undefined

Overview

Converts tons and cubic yards using an entered density, estimates truck trips, and separates delivery cost from material cost.

Assumptions

  • Density is supplied by the user.
  • Truck capacity and cost are planning assumptions.

Worked example

Eight cubic yards at 1.4 tons/yd equals 11.2 tons. With a 4-yd small dump, the trip count is ceil(8 ÷ 4) = 2.

Common mistakes

  • Confusing a truck’s volume capacity with legal weight capacity.
  • Scheduling delivery before confirming driveway access and dump location.

Limitations

Supplier truck sizes, fees, material density, and access rules vary.

Safety and local requirements

Do not stand near a raised dump bed or under a suspended load; keep children and vehicles out of the delivery zone.
