Overview

Uses yard size and tool-model tree-density productivity/debris assumptions to estimate labor, bags, haul trips, and a price range.

Assumptions

  • Tool-model assumptions vary debris volume and productivity by selected density.
  • Tool-model assumptions: a haul trip is 3 cubic yards and $60.

Worked example

An 8,000-sq-ft moderate yard uses 0.001 cu yd/sq ft = 8 cu yd; that is ceil(8 ÷ 3) = 3 haul trips and 4 labor hours at 2,000 sq ft/hr.

Common mistakes

  • Estimating from lawn area while ignoring wooded beds.
  • Assuming municipal curb pickup accepts contractor bags.

Limitations

Wet leaves, windrows, access, dump fees, and leaf volume can vary widely.

Safety and local requirements

EPA and OSHA links are general runoff and equipment-safety background, not validation of this tool’s productivity or price assumptions. Use eye/hearing protection with blowers and keep debris out of storm drains; check local collection rules.
