Fertilizer Calculator

undefined

Overview

Divides rectangular lawn area by the bag’s stated coverage to estimate whole bags, with optional lime and iron lines.

Assumptions

  • Bag coverage is the label coverage for the selected application setting.
  • Each optional amendment is shown as a planning quantity, not a recommendation.

Worked example

A 60 × 40 ft lawn is 2,400 sq ft; a 5,000-sq-ft bag yields ceil(2,400 ÷ 5,000) = 1 bag.

Common mistakes

  • Using lot size instead of mowable turf.
  • Applying lime or fertilizer without a soil test or label rate.

Limitations

It does not calculate nutrient pounds, soil pH, or runoff risk.

Safety and local requirements

Read and follow the pesticide/fertilizer label, keep product from drains, and check local nutrient and watering restrictions.
